It transcends traditional educational standards, catering to diverse needs with classrooms, maker spaces, and third spaces. Revitalizing its identity and circulation, Hughes Hall emerges as a dynamic refuge, purposefully crafted to facilitate connections and celebrate diversity.

History and Current Issues

Hughes Hall is a five-level building comprised of four stories and a basement. It is situated in the vibrant Arts District on The Ohio State University campus. Once housing OSU's School of Music, it has stood as an emblematic space since 1948. However, with the completion of the new Timashev Family Music Building, dedicated to fostering the music department, Hughes Hall now remains dormant, marking a significant shift in its historical purpose. The elegant architecture of Hughes Hall reflects its rich history, adorned with intricate details that have witnessed the evolution of musical education at OSU over the decades.
